*Data scientist position in the Mrsic-Flogel lab*

The Mrsic-Flogel lab is seeking a highly motivated data scientist. The main
focus of our research

is
to understand the visual cortex.

The primary responsibilities for this position will be to design data
analysis packages for processing large data sets. Our lab uses two-photon
imaging of individual neurons, wide field imaging of the entire cortex, and
electrophysiology to understand how neural activity relates to sensory
perception and behavior. The successful candidate should have extensive
experience working with large data sets, be highly organized and
detail-oriented, be able to work both independently and within a team, and
have a degree in physical or biological sciences (or several years of work
experience). Experience with imaging data, and familiarity with
sophisticated analysis techniques (e.g. dynamic causality modelling,
machine learning, etc.) are ideal. Familiarity with MATLAB and/or LABVIEW a
plus.

The Mrsic-Flogel lab is seeking a highly motivated research associate. The
main focus of our research

is
to understand the visual cortex.

The primary responsibilities for this position will include animal
behavioral training, histology, and/or animal surgeries. The ideal
candidate should have some research experience in a neuroscience or biology
lab. Prior experience with data analysis software and/or imaging software
would be advantageous. The successful candidate should be highly organized,
detail-oriented and computer literate, have good written and verbal
communication skills, be able to work both independently and within a team
and have a bachelor's degree or higher in a neuroscience, biology or a
related subject.
