Assistant researcher position at Ulm University (Germany)

Applications are invited for a full-time doctoral or postdoctoral position in the vision and perception science research group (Prof. Heiko Neumann), depending on the candidate's academic record. The position includes regular teaching assistance in the computer science undergraduate and graduate program of the faculty (wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter). Salary is according to the level TV-L E13. The duration is for a maximum of six years.

The candidate should fit into the main research focus areas of developing biologically inspired canonical circuit models for sensory processing (particularly in vision), the analysis of such dynamical systems, and the mapping of computational principles onto neuromorphic hardware. This considers new event-based sensor technologies and neuromorphic algorithms for developing brain-inspired computing mechanisms and their applications. Biologically inspired learning mechanisms utilising correlation learning and reinforcement learning to self-organise sparse representations for behavioural control will be developed as well. The regular teaching duties include supervision of courses in computer vision at the basic and advanced level in the Bachelor and Masters program of Computer Science and Media-Informatics. Within the MSc. program Cognitive Systems supervised lectures relate to topics in autonomous learning, dynamical systems, and human psychophysics.

** IDEAL CANDIDATE
•	training in computer science, math, electrical engineering, physics, or related discipline;
•	he/she has a strong background and already experience in computer vision and/or machine learning (in vision); computational modelling; (machine) learning in systems;
•	excellent programming skills are required (e.g., Java/C/C++/Matlab/Python);
