The NeuroMathComp Group at the Inria Sophia-Antipolis Méditerranée
Research Center, strongly encourages highly qualified candidates in the
field of computational/mathematical neuroscience to apply to Inria's
2014 recruiting campaign.
The NeuroMathComp Group at the Inria Sophia-Antipolis Méditerranée
Research Center is associated with the Mathematics Laboratory
"Laboratoire Jean-Alexandre Dieudonné" (LJAD) at Nice University. It
includes as staff members Bruno Cessac, Pascal Chossat, Olivier Faugeras
(Group Leader), James Inglis, Pierre Kornprobst, Romain Veltz, and about
10-15 postdocs and doctoral students. Other researchers working on
computational/mathematical neuroscience include Mireille Bossy, Denis
Talay and Etienne Tanré from the TOSCA Group. We are located in
Sophia-Antipolis, a thriving Industrial Research Park that resembles the
Silicon Valley in California, both at the level of intellectual and
technological excitement and at the level of the quality of life (Sea,

There are three entry levels at Inria: CR2 for early-career candidates
(about 2-5 years since PhD), CR1 (5-10 years with lots of publications),
and DR2 (international superstars). The selection process is highly
rigorous, and takes place at the regional level for CR2 and the national
level for CR1 and DR2: there are two open CR2 positions for the Inria
Sophia-Antipolis Méditerranée Research Center which has flagged this
year the area of computational neuroscience as one among its five hiring
priorities. There are two open CR1 positions and eight open DR2
positions for the nine Inria Research Centers.
These are permanent positions with no nationality requirements.
The NeuroMathComp group is specifically looking for candidates at the
CR2 and CR1 levels with a strong interest and experience in neuroscience
modeling (computational and/or mathematical), training in mathematics
or theoretical physics and excellent programming skills. The candidates
are strongly advised to contact the faculty members of the group and to
provide a CV, significant published papers and a preliminary research
project.
The deadline for submitting applications is February 17, 2014. The
application, about 15-20 pages long, includes a summary of past research
and future projects, and can be in English. Short-listing decision of
candidates is due by mid April. Short-listed candidates will be invited
for an oral presentation by mid-May. Final hiring decisions will be made
in June.
