Two post-doctoral research fellows are required for a period of up to 20 months to work on the FP7 funded collaborative projects “ROBOT-ERA<http://www.robot-era.eu/>: Implementation and integration of advanced Robotic systems and intelligent Environments in real scenarios for the ageing population” and “POETICON++<http://www.poeticon.eu/>: Robots Need Language”.
The two posts will focus on:
POETICON++ Research Fellow: You will carry out research on computational neuroscience modelling of action and language learning.

ROBOT-ERA Research Fellow: You will implement and evaluate the Human-Robot Interaction and Natural Language Interfaces (e.g. programming of automatic speech recognition system) for a service robot. Expertise on Human-Computer Interaction is also welcome.

The applicants must have a PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence or related disciplines. Expertise in one or more of these fields is essential: Human-Robot Interaction, Natural language processing, Cognitive robotics, Computational Neuroscience. Excellent programming skills are essential. The start date will be 1 May 2014 (or as soon as possible after this date, subject to negotiation) and the contract will last until 31 December 2015.
The appointees will be working collaboratively as part of a larger inter-disciplinary research team at the School of Computing and Mathematics and the Centre for Robotics and Neural Systems, under the supervision of Professor Angelo Cangelosi and Professor Tony Belpaeme. You will also collaborate with the other European and international partners of the ROBOT-ERA and POETICON++ consortium.
