Brain Informatics is an international, peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary,
and open-access journal published under the brand SpringerOpen, which
providing a unique platform for researchers and practitioners to
disseminate original research on the latest applications of computing
technology in the study of the human brain and cognition. The journal
addresses the computational, cognitive, neurophysiological, biological,
physical, ecological, and social perspectives of brain informatics, as
well as topics relating to mental health and well-being. It features
emerging advanced information technologies, such as Internet/Web of
Things (IoT/WoT), Wisdom Web of Things (W2T), cloud computing, big data
analytics, and interactive knowledge discovery with respect to brain
cognition and mental health. It explores how these technologies are
applied to informatics-enabled brain studies and their applications.
Informatics-enabled brain studies are transforming the various brain
sciences, as new methodologies enhance human interpretive powers when
dealing with big data sets increasingly derived from advanced
neuro-imaging technologies, including fMRI, PET, and MEG/EEG, as well as
from other sources like eye-tracking and from wearable, portable, micro
and nano devices. Such methodologies allow the society to measure,
collect, manage, model, mine, and interpret multiple forms of big brain
data, adding to the understanding of human thought, memory, learning,
decision-making, emotion, consciousness, and social behavior. They
assist in building brain-inspired, human-level wisdom-computing
paradigms and technologies, improving the treatment efficacy of mental
health and brain disorders, and facilitating environmental control and
sustainability. Brain Informatics enables researchers and professionals
to remain at the cutting-edge with the latest developments of theory,
technology, clinical practice, and applications in this
interdisciplinary field. Brain Informatics will publish high-quality,
original research papers, brief reports, and critical reviews in all
theoretical, technological, clinical, and interdisciplinary studies that
make up the field of brain informatics and its applications in
brain-inspired intelligent systems, health studies, among others.
