Connectionists: Open postdoc position in Computer Vision, Machine Learning & Pattern Recognition at IIT-PAVIS

Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) was founded with the 
objective of promoting Italy’s technological development and further 
education in science and technology. Therefore, IIT’s scientific program 
is based on the combination of basic scientific research with the 
development of technical applications, a major inspirational principle. 
The research areas cover scientific topics of high innovative content, 
representing the most advanced frontiers in modern technology, with wide 
application opportunities in various fields ranging from medicine to 
industry, from computer science to robotics, life sciences and 
nanobiotechnology.

PAVIS department at IIT (Pattern Analysis and Computer Vision), 
(http://www.iit.it/pavis.html) is looking for a highly qualified 
researcher in Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition, Machine Learning and 
Image Analysis.

PAVIS’s main mission is the design and development of innovative 
computer vision systems, characterized by the use of highly-functional 
smart sensors and advanced video analytics features.
PAVIS has also an active role in supporting the research facilities in 
IIT which provide solutions to scientists in other disciplines, such as 
Neuroscience and Nanophysics. To this end, the group is involved in 
activities concerning computer vision and pattern recognition, machine 
learning, multimodal data analysis and sensor fusion and embedded 
computer vision systems.

This call aims at consolidating PAVIS’s expertise in the following 
research areas:
+ Detection, tracking (individuals, groups, crowd) and re-identification;
+ Behavior Analysis & Activity Recognition (individuals, groups, crowd).

The candidate is also expected to support supervision of PhDs and 
general lab-related activities.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in computer vision, machine learning, 
signal processing, image analysis or related areas. Evidence of top 
quality research in the above specified areas in terms of published 
papers in top conferences/journals and/or patents is mandatory.

An internationally very competitive salary will be offered. It is a 
fixed term and filled initially for 2 years with an option for extension 
for another 2 more years. Please notice that for foreign researchers (or 
for returning Italian researchers) Italy offers a very convenient tax
