Dear Connectionists mailing list, This recent paper may be of interest to the readership. The paper uses modelling and electrophysiology to suggest that the sodium-potassium pump is not simply a homeostatic, housekeeping molecule; but can be a computational element, utilised by the brain for information processing. We are now conducting further work to build upon this suggestion.
