ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF COGNITIVE ENGINEERING
UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, MERCED

The University of California at Merced is accepting applications for
Assistant Professor of Cognitive Engineering, as part of a long-term
plan to build a concentration of interdisciplinary researchers at the
intersection of cognitive science and computer science.  Successful
applicants will have expertise in both cognitive science and computer
science, and will have primary research interests in at least one of
the following domains:  human-computer interaction, human-robot
interaction, user interfaces, augmented or virtual reality, computer
games, computational approaches to group cognition, and/or distributed
intelligent systems.  A Ph.D. in computer science, cognitive science,
or a closely related field, is required.  Applicants are expected to
have strong publication records, clear interdisciplinary research
programs, and the ability to attract extramural funding.  This
position will involve a joint appointment between the School of
Engineering and the School of Social Sciences, Humanities, and Arts.
