in-depth discussion on recent research results. Also, at the 7th
International Conference on Neural Information Processing on November
2000, special sessions were organized on Blind Adaptive Filtering and
Independent Component Analysis and Models of Natural Image
Statistics. Also, several post-conference workshops have been
organized at Neural Information Processing Systems over the last few
years. The papers presented dealt with recent developments on new
theories and applications of BSS and ICA, and contribute to the
scientific and engineering progress in this important field. Some
contributions for the special issue will evolve from the attendants of
those meetings. If you were not able to attend and are active in these
areas of research, you are highly encouraged to submit your work.

Examples of topics relevant to this special issue include :

- Multichannel blind deconvolution and equalization 
- Nonstationary source separation 
- Nonlinear ICA 
- Noisy ICA 
- Variational methods for ICA
- PCA/ICA feature extraction
- BSS/ICA applications (speech enhancement, Efficient encoding of
natural scenes and sound , telecommunication, data mining, medical
data processing, etc.)
