Industrial Sponsor: BT Exact

Duration: March 2003 - March 2006

There is a FULLY FUNDED PhD Studentship (Industry CASE) in the
above-mentioned area. Cranfield University is actively involved with
a number of companies to research in the areas of Decision

Networks and Evolutionary Computing to address the challenge.

The research will investigate different soft computing techniques to
characterise customer behaviour and preference within Contact Centre
Environment. The project will involve close collaboration with BT Exact
as the industrial sponsor. This is a pan industry project, where the
student is expected to develop generic tools and techniques to analyse
data from different industrial context. The research will involve data
analysis, classification and presentation to improve the efficiency of
the Contact Centres. The tools developed in the project will integrate
with existing Contact Centre Environment to provide real time decision
support to the staff working at the Centre.

EPSRC is expected to pay tuition fees to Cranfield. The student would
receive around 11K pounds sterling tax-free per annum for the three
years. Interested graduate/postgraduate students with
computing/engineering background are invited to submit their CV for an
informal discussion over telephone or email. Additional background in
data analysis and Soft Computing will be beneficial. The minimum
academic requirement for entrants to the degree is an upper second
class honours degree or its equivalent. Please note that the funding
