I am pleased to announce the publication of my recent monograph:
``Artificial Mind System -- Kernel Memory Approach''
by Tetsuya Hoya
in the series: Studies in Computational Intelligence (SCI), Vol. 1
(270p), Heidelberg: Springer-Verlag
ISBN 3540260722

The book is written from an engineer's scope of the mind. It
exposes the reader to a broad spectrum of interesting areas in
brain science and mind-oriented studies. In the first part of
the monograph, I focused upon a neww connectionist model, called
the `kernel memory', which can be seen as generalisation of
probabilistic / generalised regression neural networks. Then,
the second part proposes a holistic model of an artificial mind
system and its behaviour, as concretely as possible, on the basis
of the kernel memory concept developed in the first part, within
a unified context, which could eventually lead to practical
realisation in terms of hardware or software. With a view that
``the mind is an input-output system alwayys evolving'', ideas
inspired by many branches of studies related to brain science are
integrated within the text, i.e. artificial intelligence, cognitive
science/psychology, connectionism, consciousness studies, general
neuroscience, linguistics, pattern recognition/data clustering,
robotics, and signal processing.
Key words: artificial intelligence, mind, neural networks,
creating the brain.
