PhD Studentship in Computational Neurobiology

Applications are invited for a PhD studentship in the general area of
Computational Neurobiology, with particular emphasis on mathematical
and computational models of synaptic plasticity and neuronal
development, under the supervision of Dr Terry Elliott. The successful
applicant will join the newly-established Science and Engineering of
Natural Systems (SENSe) group within the School.

The studentship is funded for UK and EU students at the rate of
£12,000 per annum plus fees.

The School is the largest of its kind in the UK, and was rated 5* (the
top rating) for both Computer Science and Electronics in the last
Research Assessment Exercise. The School hosts several major national
and European research centres and projects, with funding from numerous
sources, including EPSRC, DTI, EU and industry.

Applicants should hold, or expect to obtain, a first class or upper
second class degree in a highly numerate discipline such as
mathematics or physics, although strong applicants from other
appropriate subjects will also be considered.

Initial, informal inquiries may be addressed to Dr Terry Elliott,
