Readers of the list may interested in the possibility of postdoctoral
positions in Ireland funded by the Irish Research Council for Science,
Engineering, & Technology (IRCSET).
An "advance notice" to the call is appended to this email. Further details
will shortly appear at http://www.embark.ie. The deadline for submissions
is November 1. Potential applicants should note that there is no
nationality restriction on who may apply.
The Department of Computer Science at NUI Maynooth is interested in hosting
post-doctoral applicants in any of the Department's active research areas
(http://www.cs.may.ie/research/index.html). Potential applicants should
contact the relevant members of the Department directly.

Advance Notice
IRCSET/Embark Initiative Post Doctoral Fellowship Scheme
The Embark Initiative will shortly launch its Post Doctoral Fellowship
Scheme.
This scheme is designed to encourage excellence in research careers by
funding doctoral students to associate with established research teams who
have achieved international recognition for their work.
Applicants will normally have submitted their PhD to their supervisor and
have certification from their university that their thesis has been
submitted for examination.
Applicants will be required to submit:
a research plan with input from the candidate and host research group
summary of Ph.D work
a list of publications and conference presentations
statement from Ph.D supervisor regarding candidates achievements and
suitability for post doctoral work
statement from proposed laboratory regarding suitability of candidate for
the research area and resources available for the proposed work
The award will consist of a salary contribution of 33,000 per annum and a
contribution to laboratory costs and travel of up to 5,000 per annum.
Awards will be tenable for 2 years. The Closing date for applications will
be 1st November 2002. This short call duration is necessary in order to
ensure that assessment and completion of contracts are in place for the
2002/2003 academic year.
