Opening for Visiting Researcher at ATR in Kyoto, Japan
------------------------------------------------------

There is an opening for a Visiting Researcher at the ATR Media
Information Science Laboratories. Applicants should have a Masters or
PhD in computer science, electrical engineering or a related
discipline, and research experience and interests in the areas of
computer vision, machine learning, human computer interaction,
affective computing. Excellent software development skills and
knowledge of image and signal processing techniques are a must.

The initial appointment is for 1 year, renewable up to 4 years, based
on performance. The salary and benefits package at ATR (which includes
subsidized housing) is attractive by academic standards. The Advanced
Telecommunications Research Labs is a basic research institute located
at the birthplace of Japanese culture, close to the cities of Kyoto,
Osaka, and Nara. Opportunities for cultural and outdoor activities
abound. Approximately 20% of the researchers are from overseas and
foreign staff support is excellent. Japanese language is not needed
for this position.
