Post-Doct: Encoding of Dynamic Spectrum in Auditory Cortex

Several post-doctoral positions are available in the Department of Anatomy and
Neurobiology of the School of Medicine of the Univ. of Maryland (in
Baltimore) to work in the laboratory of Dr. Didier Depireux.
The overall goal of the research is to determine how the shape of the
acoustic spectrum is represented in the unit responses of auditory cortex of
the awake and alert ferret. We develop system models to characterize
response features that are extensions of the classical concepts of response
areas and impulse response functions. The project could involve correlated
psychophysical studies in ferrets and/or human subjects.
The successful candidate will have training experience in either
electrophysiology in animals or a strong interest in applying quantitative
methods to the field of neuroscience.
