We have an opening for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to work on an
international collaborative project funded by the McDonnell foundation
entitled "Mechanisms of Forward Thinking and Behaviour".  The Fellow will
investigate the computational mechanisms by which the motor system can be
used to decode the observed actions of others. Computational architectures
will be developed for action observation, imitation and communication. The
ideal candidate will have a PhD in a related area and strong mathematical
and computational skills. Each year the postdoctoral fellow will spend 9
months in London with Dr Daniel Wolpert, to whom informal enquiries are
welcome (wolpert at hera.ucl.ac.uk) and 3 months in Kyoto, Japan working with
Dr Mitsuo Kawato.

The position is available for two years and the Fellow could start
immediately. Starting salary is up to #30,453 pa inclusive, depending on

2. Postdoctoral Fellowship

The Sobell Department of Motor Neuroscience & Movement Disorders has an
opening for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow in the area of
computational and experimental human motor control. The Fellow will join a
team investigating planning, control and learning of skilled action. The
ideal candidate will have a PhD, technical expertise and computational
skills relevant to the study of human movement.

The sensorimotor control laboratory is housed with state of the art
equipment for the collection of kinematic (Optotrak & multiple
flock-of-birds), force (multiple six axis force transducers) and
physiological data (EMG). In addition equipment is available for the
provision of online visual feedback (both 3D and 2D virtual reality
systems), and for the perturbation of movements (two robotic Phantom haptic
interfaces, muscle stimulation and TMS facilities).

The project, funded by a Wellcome Programme Grant, is under the direction of
Dr. Daniel Wolpert to whom informal enquiries are welcome
