Call for papers for a special issue on Fusion of Multiple Classifiers
Information Fusion
An International Journal on Multi-Sensor, Multi-Source Information

Editor-in-Chief: Dr. Belur V. Dasarathy

The Information Fusion Journal has planned for publication, in the
latter half of 2002, a special issue devoted to the fusion of
multiple classifiers. Classifier fusion has recently become an
important tool for enhancing the performance of pattern recognition
systems. A myriad of techniques have been developed for combining
classifiers at the decision or soft decision output level. These
techniques have been conceived by researchers in many diverse
communities including Machine Learning, Pattern Recognition, Neural
Networks, Statistics, and Artificial Intelligence. The aim of this
special issue is to provide a focal point for recent advances in this
methodological area of pat-tern recognition across different
paradigms and disciplines.
Submitted papers should report new theories underpinning classifier
combination, novel methodologies, applications where classifier
fusion significantly enhanced the recognition system performance, or
extensive comparative studies of different combination rules.
Topics appropriate for this special issue include, but are not limited to:
=85 Decision level fusion
=85 Strategies for multiple classifier fusion
=85 Bagging and boosting
=85 Neural network ensembles
=85 Multiple classifier design
=85 Fusion of one-class classifiers
=85 Fusion of measurement and contextual information
=85 Innovative applications
Prospective authors should follow the regular paper preparation
guide-lines of the Journal. Submission can be done electronically in
=2Epdf or .ps format, along with four hard copies sent to one of the
