empirical research program is a must.

Job Opening in Brain and Cognitive Sciences (BCS)

We are seeking candidates with a Ph.D. in Psychology or a related
field, whose research interests include memory and cognitive
psychology, cognitive neuroscience, cognitive development, or social
cognition. Candidates for this position will be expected to develop a
research program with potential for external funding and to share
responsibility for teaching basic graduate and undergraduate courses
in cognitive psychology, possibly undergraduate research methods or
introductory statistics, as well as courses in their own specialty
area. Interest and experience with an integrated multidisciplinary
approach is highly desirable. Candidates will join a group whose
research interests include cognitive psychology, neuroscience,
cognitive development, behavior genetics, behavioral economics,
decision making, and cognitive aging (see
http:/www.siu.edu/~psycho/bcs for a detailed description of BCS
faculty research interests).

Applicants for the position must have either demonstrated potential
for (Assistant Professor level) or an established record of (Associate
Professor level) excellence in teaching, publication, and externally
funded research. Applicants are expected to have completed all
requirements for the Ph.D. by the date of employment. If all
requirements have not been completed, a one-year term appointment at
the rank of Instructor will be offered. Applicants should send a cover
letter with an explicit statement of research and teaching interests,
a current curriculum vita, reprints, teaching evaluations (if
available), and have three letters of recommendation sent to
