FACULTY POSITION IN THE INSTITUTE OF COGNITIVE SCIENCE.  

The Institute of Cognitive Science at the University of Louisiana at
Lafayette invites applications for a tenure-track faculty appointment
for the Fall of 2002. The appointment will be made at the associate
professor or senior assistant professor level. The Institute of
Cognitive Science is a graduate unit offering a Ph.D. program in
cognitive science. Focus areas of the program are in cognitive
processes, comparative cognition, cognitive development, computational
models of mind, cognitive neuroscience, and
linguistic/psycholinguistic processes.  Applicants should hold a
Ph.D. in cognitive science, psychology, or a related discipline, and
must exhibit evidence of a productive research program. Please send a
curriculum vitae, selected reprints, and at least three letters of
reference to Subrata Dasgupta, Institute of Cognitive Science,

Assistant Professor, tenure-track, beginning Fall 2002. AOS: Philosophy
of Mind/Cognitive Science. AOC: Open, but Ancient, Aesthetics,
Metaphysics, and/or Philosophy of Language a plus. Ph.D. at time of hire
and teaching experience required. The candidate should exhibit research
promise, proven excellence in teaching and a commitment to the
development and life of the philosophy program and the new Institute of
Cognitive Science Ph.D program at UL Lafayette. Thus, empirical
experience in a cognitive science related discipline would be a
considerable advantage. Send cover letter, C.V., at least 3 confidential
letters of reference, recent teaching evaluations, sample(s) of
scholarly written work, statement describing research program and
