The continuous growth of information repositories in digital format (eg
the World Wide Web) makes it necessary to develop entirely new - and
automatic - ways of accessing it. Learning methods are one of the most
promising research directions.
This workshop will bring together experts from information retrieval, text
categorization, machine vision, and learning theory. The aim is to provide
an understanding of the state of the art, and of the open problems to
which learning technology could be applied.

hour tutorial style talks.
