Applications are invited for studentships leading to a PhD in the areas of
behaviour modelling and content-based indexing. Starting date for the
position is September/October 2001.
The aims of the studentships are to pursue research in developing dynamic
face and behavioural models from temporal information and their applications
in indexing image and video databases. The candidates should ideally have a
good first degree in one of the following subjects: Computer Science,
Electronic Engineering, Mathematics or Physics. Normally, candidates are
also required to have an appropriate master's degree, although exceptions
can be made. Programming experience in C/C++ is essential and knowledge
computer vision and statistical learning would be advantageous.
Each post carries a bursary of 9000 pounds per annum plus home (and EU)
postgraduate fees and is tenable for three years. There may also be
opportunities to supplement the bursary income by undertaking tutorial work
within the School.
