OPTIC FLOW AND BEYOND: A Boston Area Meeting
May 23, 2001
Organizers: Lucia M. Vaina, Scott A. Beardsley, Simon Rushton

The intention of this one day meeting is to bring together people working in
the areas of Optic Flow and/or visually guided locomotion to discuss current
research and key issues in the field.

The meeting will be hosted by the
     Brain and Vision Research Laboratory
     Department of Biomedical Engineering
     Boston University

and will be held
     May 23  (9am-6pm)
     Engineering Research Building (ERB)
     Room 203
     44 Cummington Street
     Boston, Ma 02215

REGISTRATION: DEADLINE MAY 10TH  (registration is free)

If you are interested in participating please submit a one page position paper
by May 10th. Position papers should be sent by e-mail to Lucia Vaina,
vaina at engc.bu.edu. If you are interested in attending the meeting but do not
wish to present please send an e-mail as well to RSVP.

We encourage all participants to send suggestions for discussion points.

Submissions received by May 10 will be posted on the Brain and Vision Research
Laboratory website by May 15 together with a detailed schedule:

Tentative schedule:

9am                      Coffee and bagels

10am-1pm            Short presentations from those who have submitted position
                              papers. (Presentation time will be EQUALLY divided
among
                              all speakers).

1pm-2:30pm         Lunch

2:30pm-5:30pm    Discussion of key points in current research

5:30pm-6pm         Discuss the publication of a book with contributions from
the
                              participants.

FORMAT:
The morning presentations will consist of short summaries of the key points of
each speaker's research (Suggested length: ~3-5 slides). During the afternoon
discussion section, slides may also be used. Please volunteer if you wish to
lead a disccusion topic!

The room has approximately 50 seats togther with a computer projector and
audio-visual equipment.  Slides and overhead projectors are available upon
request.

ACCOMODATIONS: While we are unable to cover accomodations for those who attend,
breakfast and lunch will be offered to all participants.
