                   University of Southern California
                 Department of Biomedical Engineering

                           FACULTY POSITIONS

The Department of Biomedical Engineering at USC is engaged in a major
expansion of its research and educational programs, supported through
the School of Engineering, the Alfred E. Mann Institute and a Special
Opportunity Award from the Whitaker Foundation. For the first phase of
this expansion we invite applications for tenure-track faculty
positions at all levels in the areas of device/diagnostic technologies
and neural systems.

In the area of neural systems the successful candidate will be
expected to complement the Department's existing strengths by
establishing an independent research program in areas such as:
computational neural science; sensory systems; motor control;
neural/device interfaces; neural prostheses.

The successful candidates in device/diagnostic technologies will
provide leadership in establishing research and educational programs
leading to the next generation of biomedical device and diagnostic
technologies. Areas of interest include molecular and chemical
sensing; biochemical, mechanical, optical microsystems; smart sensor
and diagnostic technologies; implantable devices.

Faculty will have the opportunity to work with the technology
development professionals of the Alfred E. Mann Institute for
Biomedical Engineering at USC, to translate their fundamental research
discoveries into commercially viable biomedical technologies to
improve human health and well-being.
Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae and research/education
statement along with suggested references to:
