PHD Positions in Neuromathematics
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The Ministry of Science and Education of the Federal State of Lower
Saxony has established a new research scientists group of junior staff
mainly working in the field of
"Learning with neural methods on structured data"
in the department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University
of Osnabrueck and is therefore looking for two
Scientific Assistants
(payment according to German tariff BAT IIa)
as of now and for a limited period of four years.
The group co-operates with the working groups discrete mathematics and
theoretical computer science/neuro-informatics as well as with
representatives of the interdisciplinary course of studies 'Cognitive
Science'. The main working field is the combination of neuro-informatic
methods and discrete optimization and applications in information
management and scheduling. The persons filling in these posts will have
to work in current research projects.
These posts require an appropriate scientific university degree in
mathematics, computer science or a related scientific-technical course
of studies. Knowledge of machine learning or discrete mathematics is
desirable. Readiness for interdisciplinary research is expected. The
possibility of doing a doctorate is given. In an exceptional case the
candidates may already have received the PhD.
Part-time employment may be considered. The University of Osnabrueck aims
at a higher share of women in the scientific field and would expressively
encourage qualified female scientists to apply for these posts. Seriously
handicapped applicants will take precedence if equally qualified.
Applications containing the customary documents should be sent to
Dr. Barbara Hammer,
Department of Mathematics/Computer Science,
University of Osnabrueck,
D-49069 Osnabrueck, Germany
by 26th of May 2000.
