My PhD thesis on mapping and parallel simulation of neural
networks is now available

Title:

Mapping and Parallel, Distributed Simulation of 
Neural Networks on Message Passing Multiprocessors

Abstract:

This thesis introduces an etire 
policy to the parallelization and 
parallel simulation of artificial 
neural networks (ANN). The idea is 
to hide the parallelization effort 
to the ANN developer and to the ANN 
user. Main issues are i) Analysis 
of the ANN in terms of parallel 
execution, ii) Mapping the ANN to 
an abstract (scaleable) message 
passing computer systems, iii) parallel 
simulation on such an architecture. 
Results indicate, that transparent 
parallelization of neural networks is 
useful in order to efficiently develop 
and apply non-trivial neural networks.
