Neural Information Processing Systems Conference

		    NIPS*98

	  ------- TRAVEL GRANTS -------

         ****** Deadline Oct. 19 ********

Limited funds will be available to support the travel of young
investigators, post-doctoral fellows, and graduate students to NIPS.
Awards will be based on both merit and need. The amount of aid will
generally not exceed $400 for domestic (US) travel; increased amounts
may be available for participants travelling from overseas. Conference
registration is not covered by travel awards.

In order to speed processing and reduce applicant workload, applications
for travel grants MUST be submitted this year via the NIPS Conference
web page form for this purpose:

http://www.cs.cmu.edu/Groups/NIPS/NIPS98/Travel.html

With the creation of this automated application system, there is no need
to submit hardcopies of your application, as was indicated in the (now
superceded) printed brochure. Even if you have already submitted an
application to the NIPS Foundation office, you must still submit the web
page form.

Deadline for submission is Oct. 19. Notification of award will be
emailed in early November. Travel award checks in US$ may be picked up
upon registration at the conference. A photocopy of your airline ticket
will be required. Applications that arrive after the deadline will be
collected and considered as a separate pool in case any awarded travel
funds are left uncollected at the conference.
