Research Associate: Probabilistic Models for Sequences
Department of Artificial Intelligence, University of Edinburgh
A vacancy exists for a research associate on the RA1A scale (point 6),
to work on a 3-year EPSRC funded research project entitled
"Probabilistic Models for Sequences". The aim of the project is to
investigate belief network models for sequences, with a particular
focus on image sequences. This will entail the development and
evaluation of approximation schemes for multiple-cause/hierarchical
belief network models. These methods will be applied to problems such
as road-scene interpretation and medical image analysis.
This post is fixed-term, funded until 30 September 2001. Candidates
should have strong mathematical and computational skills, preferably
with a background in belief networks or more generally in
probabilistic modelling. Starting salary will be point 6 on the RA1A
scale, 16,927 pounds per annum. The successful applicant will work
with a PhD student and a MSc student who are also funded through the
project.
