Staff Scientist Position in Theoretical Neuroscience

The institute invites applications for a staff scientist position
in its theory group.

Candidates are expected to have excellent academic qualifications
and a proven record of research in one or more of the following
fields: computational neuroscience, theoretical brain research,
systems neurobiology, adaptive behavior -- in addition to a good
background in theoretical physics.

Research at the institute focuses on mesoscopic systems in
physics and biology and on computational neuroscience. The
successful candidate is expected to carry out independent
research in the field of her/his specialization and to
collaborate with post-docs and graduate students. The group is
closely affiliated with the University of Goettingen, where a
"Habilitation" (secondary doctoral degree) may be pursued.

The appointment will be for a fixed term of up to five years
starting from September 1998 or later. Salary is according to the
German BAT IIa/Ib bracket. The institute encourages applications
