SOM Toolbox for Matlab 5 version 1.0 beta now available in the WWW!

A GNU licensed Matlab 5 toolbox for using self-organizing maps in data
analysis is now available for free at URL

  http://www.cis.hut.fi/projects/somtoolbox/

The web page includes snapshots, the codes as a zip file and full
documentation. If you are interested in practical data analysis
and/or self-organizing maps and have Matlab 5 in your computer, be
sure to check this out!

The version is 1.0beta, so comments, suggestions and bug
reports are welcome to the address: somtlbx at mail.cis.hut.fi

Here are some SOM Toolbox features:

+ Modular programming style: the Toolbox code utilizes Matlab structures
and the functions are constructed in a modular manner, which makes it
convenient to tailor the code for each users' specific needs.
(Note that you only need the basic Matlab 5 to run the SOM Toolbox
  - no other toolboxes are required.)

+ Batch and sequential training algorithms: in data analysis
applications, the speed of training can be considerably improved by
  using the batch version.

+ Map dimension: maps may be N-dimensional.

+ Advanced graphics: based on Matlab's powerful graphics capabilities,
illustrative figures can be easily produced.

+ Graphical user interface.

+ Compatibility with SOM_PAK: import/export functions for SOM_PAK
codebook and data files are included in the package.

+ Basic preprocessing, labeling and validation tools.
