Research Studentship in Autonomous Mobile Robotics

The Neural and Adaptive Systems Group is offering a studentship aimed 
at investigating autonomous mobile robotics. The topics to be 
investigated will cover subjects such as biologically inspired models 
of spatial memory, use of vision in navigation tasks and for object 
recognition, goal directed action plans, exploration, and others. 

A research student is sought to: 
i) Take part in the set-up of the lab and provide technical support 
ii) Perform experiments with mobile robots.

The ideal candidate should be a good all rounder, with good 
programming skills (C/C++), knowledge on interfacing PC's with the 
outside world, some knowledge of the design of electronic circuits, 
some skills in building / assembling electromechanical equipments, 
and a strong interest in biological and artificial neurocomputing, 
and its application in "useful" robots. 

The position is initially for two years, enabling to work towards an 
MPhil, with a possible extension of one year to complete a PhD. The 
studentship is approximately of 5400 pounds per year, tax free, which 
may be supplemented with part-time teaching.
