SECOND CALL FOR PAPERS
======================
Euromicro-Workshop on Computational Intelligence
Budapest, Hungary
September 3-4, 1997
CONFERENCE SCOPE
================
Artificial Neural Networks (NN), Fuzzy-Logic Systems (FL), and Evolutionary
Algorithms (EA) have been investigated since three decades. Their broad
application, however, had to wait until powerful computers became available
within the last decade. Their potential is by no means exhausted today. On the
contrary, more and more they are jointly applied to solve real-world hard
problems. The term Computational Intelligence has been coined for such
combinations, and the first CI World Congress in 1994 was witness of the boom
in this challenging field, the next one being scheduled for 1998.
This Workshop aims at bringing together developers and users of CI methods in
order to enhance the synergetic potential. Besides pure subsymbolic knowledge
processing, also combinations of symbolic and subsymbolic approaches shall be
addressed.
Topics of interest include, but are not restricted to:
Evolutionary Algorithms: theoretical aspects of evolutionary computation,
modifications and extensions to evolutionary algorithms such as
evolution strategies, evolutionary programming, and genetic algorithms,
recent trends in applications.
Fuzzy-Logic: mathematical foundations of fuzzy logic and control, semantics of
fuzzy rule bases, fuzzy clustering, decision making, image processing,
recent trends in applications.
Neural Networks: advances in supervised and unsupervised learning algorithms,
constructive algorithms for networks, prediction and non-linear
dynamics of networks, pattern recognition, data analysis, associative
memory.
Combined CI-Methods: evolutionary algorithms for neural networks, fuzzy neural
networks, evolutionary optimized fuzzy systems, and any combination
with classical as well as novel methods.
The Workshop will have just one stream of oral and poster sessions. This will
give ample time for open discussions.
GENERAL INFORMATION
===================
The Workshop will be organized in parallel with the annual Euromicro
Conference,
the 23rd one to be held in Budapest, the well known capital of Hungary.
Budapest is famous for many reasons and there are very many attractions to be
visited. Local arrangements and tourist information will be provided in the
final program of the Workshop. Joint registration to the Workshop and the 23rd
Euromicro Conference will be available.

SUBMISSION OF PAPERS
====================
Prospective authors are encouraged to send a PostScript version of their full
paper (not exceeding 4000 words in length and including a 150-200 words
abstract) through WWW (http://LS11-www.informatik.uni-dortmund.de/EUROMICRO).
Alternatively, submissions may be sent as hardcopies by postal mail. In that
case 5 copies are due to be sent to one of the program chairpersons.
The following information should be included in the submission: All necessary
clearances have been obtained for the publication of this paper. If accepted,
the author(s) will prepare the final camera-ready manuscript in time for
inclusion in the proceedings and will personally present the paper at the
Workshop.
The closing date for submissions is February 1st, 1997. Authors will be
notified
of acceptance by April 1st, 1997. Camera-ready versions will be required by
June 1st, 1997. The proceedings will be published by IEEE Press.
Note: We aim at high quality papers rather than a full program.
