POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP
--------------------------------
AI Lab, Department of Computer Science
University of Zurich, Switzerland
The AI Lab at the University of Zurich participates in the VIRGO project
(Vision-Based Robot Navigation Research Network), which is sponsored by
the TMR research program of the European Union. For this project, we are
looking for a highly motivated individual for an 18-month postdoctoral
research position.
The goal of VIRGO is to coordinate European research and postgraduate
training activities that address the development of intelligent robotic
systems able to navigate in (partially) unknown and possibly changing
environments. For further details, please visit VIRGO's home page
http://www.ics.forth.gr/virgo/ .
The ideal candidate would have good programming skills (C/C++) and a
strong background in neural networks. Furthermore, working in this
interdisciplinary project requires good interpersonal skills and
the ability of adopting new perspectives. The main focus of the
research will be in the field of insect navigation, mimicking
principles of biological systems. Also, work involving robot hardware,
such as assembling and repairing robots, sensor and actuator systems,
building controllers etc., is involved. The position is open
immediately, but the actual starting date can be negotiated. The salary
will be according to local university regulations for postdocs
and can be expected to be about SFr 60.000 (approximately USD 50.000)
per year. Since the project is sponsored by the European Union,
the candidate should be a European citizen.
To apply for this position, send your curriculum vitae including a list
of references, a list of publications, and two or three representative
publications either by e-mail or surface mail to
