1996 International Conference
on
Neural Information Processing
The Annual Conference of the Asian Pacific Neural Network Assembly
ICONIP'96, September 24 - 27, 1996
Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center, Wan Chai, Hong Kong
In cooperation with
IEEE / NNC --IEEE Neural Networks Council
INNS - International Neural Network Society
ENNS - European Neural Network Society
JNNS - Japanese Neural Network Society
CNNC - China Neural Networks Council
======================================================================
The goal of ICONIP'96 is to provide a forum for researchers and
engineers from academia and industry to meet and to exchange ideas on
the latest developments in neural information processing. The
conference also further serves to stimulate local and regional
interests in neural information processing and its potential
applications to industries indigenous to this region.
The conference consists of one-day Financial Engineering tutorial
given by well known experts in the field and a three-day program with
only four parallel sessions. The overall program covers major topics
in neural information processing and reflects the latest progress
with a good balance between scientific studies and industrial
applications, as well as featured neural information processing
approaches on Financial Engineering.
The conference contains a high quality contributed program and a very
strong invited program. For the contributed program, we received 314
submissions from 33 countries, including Asia-Pacific areas, Europe,
North and South America. Each submitted paper was sent to three
experts in the related fields from all over the world for
reviewing. With their rigorous and timely efforts, a high quality
technical program has been achieved with around 60% overall
acceptance rate (20% oral presentation, 20% spotlight presentation,
20% poster presentation). The spotlight presentation is a poster
presentation plus a 5-minute oral presentation which highlights the
contribution of the poster paper. For the invited program, we have 5
keynote speakers, 3 honored speakers, and 22 invited speakers by well
known international neural information processing scientists and
experts. The invited program is also featured by 8 special sessions on
interesting current topics.
Hong Kong is one of the most dynamic and international cities in the
world. She is a major financial center and has world-class
facilities, easy accessibility, exciting entertainment, delicious
cuisine and high levels of service and professionalism. Hong Kong
people are known of their talent and aggressiveness. Come to Hong
Kong! Visit this Eastern Pearl in this historical period, in
transition from a British colony into a special administration zone of
China in 1997. Hong Kong is a place where you can find the
traditional Chinese culture and the Western culture. The mid-autumn
festival will be on the last day of the conference. You will
experience how the people in Hong Kong celebrate this festival by
eating delicious moon-cakes and lighting up marvelous paper lanterns
everywhere in the evening. You will also see the nearly completed
Tsing Ma Bridge -- the world's longest span road-rail suspension
bridge. Do not miss this opportunity to take part in ICONIP'96 and
visit Hong Kong.
