* Layout and logical structure analysis of documents.
* Map drawing and understanding.
* OCR and handwriting recognition (off-line and on-line).
* Multimedia document processing.
* Image/text retrieval, automated indexing.
* User interfaces to electronic libraries.
* Image/text compression.
This workshop will be a forum for application researchers and developers to
present their systems and discuss tabu subjects, including:
- hybrid solutions,
- solutions that work (don't know why),
- solutions that do not work (though theoretically optimum),
- hacks, tricks and miscellaneous occult methods,
- marketing advantage/disadvantage of saying that there is a NN in the system.
The condition of acceptance will not be the novelty of the algorithms but the
existence of a working "money making" application or at least a working
prototype with a path towards industrialization. The performance of the system
should be measured quantitatively, preferably using known benchmarks or
comparisons with other systems. As for regular scientific papers, every
statement should be properly supported by experimental evidence, statistics or
references. Demonstrations and videos are encouraged.
