1996 Joint Statistical Meetings, Chicago, 4-8 August 96
Call for Papers: ASA Section on BAYESIAN STATISTICAL SCIENCE
The latest issue of Amstat News contains a call for Invited Paper Session
suggestions and proposals from Dick Gunst, the ASA Program Chair. This
is a follow-up call from SBSS. The Section will have at least one Invited
Session, possibly more including sessions co-sponsored by other sections.
Proposals and suggestions received will also be considered for Special
Contributed Paper Sessions.
At this stage, suggestions and ideas for sessions need not identify a full
list of speakers and discussants, but you should provide a general idea of
the topic and focus. The theme for the 1996 meetings is "Challenging the
Frontiers of Knowledge Using Statistical Science", intended to highlight
new statistical developments at the forefront of the discipline -- theory,
methods, applications, and cross-disciplinary activities. Suggestions for
invited sessions should relate to this theme, involving topics of real
novelty and importance, new directions of development in Bayesian statistics,
and reflecting the current vibrancy of the discipline.
Invited sessions typically have three speakers and one discussant, though the
format can vary from one to three speakers, or comprise a panel discussion.
Novel format suggestions are welcome. Special Contributed Sessions typically
have four or five speakers plus a discussant.
Please contact me with suggestions and ideas for sessions. The deadline for
receipt at ASA of all invited paper sessions is soon: July 1 1995.
