                        Call for Papers
            First ICSC International Symposium on
                       FUZZY LOGIC

      To be held at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH)
                            Zurich, Switzerland
                            May 26 and 27, 1995

I.     PURPOSE OF THE CONFERENCE

       The purpose of this conference is to assist communication of
       research in the field of Fuzzy Logic and its technological
       applications. Fuzzy Logic is a scientific revolution that
       has been waiting to happen for decades. Research in Fuzzy
       Technologies has reched a degree where industrial application
       is possible. This is reflected by numerous projects in the
       USA, Korea and Japan, where the leading corporations have
       invested billions in utilising fuzzy logic in technological
       innovations. International activities show that by the year
       2000 numerous practical realizations will be influenced by
       Fuzzy Systems. It is thus timely to organize a symposium
       aimed at bringing together both existing and potential workers
       in the field.

II.    TOPICS

       The following topics are envisaged:

* Basic concepts such as various kinds of Fuzzy Sets, Fuzzy
       Relations, Possibility Theory

* Mathematical Aspects such as non-classical logics, Category
       Theory, Algebra, Topology, Chaos Theory

* Methodology and applications for example in Artificial
       Intelligence, Expert Systems, Patten Recognition, Clustering,
       Fuzzy Control, Game Theory, Mathematical Programming,
       Neural Networks, Genetic Algorithms, etc.

* Implementation, for example in Engineering, Process Control,
       Production, Medicine.

       H. Hellendoorn, Germany B. Reusch, Germany
       M. Jamshidi, USA N. Steele, England (Chairman)
       E.P. Klement, Austria K. Warwick, England

       R. Kruse, Germany                      (list incomplete)

IV.    ORGANISING COMMITTEE

       The ISFL`95 is a joint operation of the Swiss Federal Institute
       of Technology (ETH), Zurich and International Computer Science
       Conventions (ICSC).

V.     SUBMISSIONS OF MANUSCRIPTS

       Prospective authors are requested to send two copies of their
       abstracts of 500 words to the ICSC Secretariat for review by the
       International Scientific Committee. All abstracts must be written
       in English, starting with a succinct statement of the problem, the
       results achieved their significance and a comparison with previous
       work. If authors believe that more details are necessary to
       substantiate the main claims of the paper, they may include a
       clearly marked appendix that will be read at the discretion of the
       International Scientific Committee.

       The abstract should also include:

       *    Title of proposed paper
       *    Author's names, affiliations, addresses
       * Name of author to contact for correspondence
       * Fax number of contact author
       * Name of topic which best describes the paper (max. 5 keywords)

       Contributions are solicited from those working in industry and having
       experience in the topics of this conference as well as from academics.

VI.    CONFERENCE LANGUAGE

       The Conference language is English. Simultaneous interpretation will
       not be available.

VII.   DEADLINES AND REGISTRATION

       It is the intention of the organizers to have the conference proceedings
       avialable for the delegates. Consequently the deadlines are to be
       strictly respected:

       *    Submission of Abstracts ....................  August 31, 1994
       *    Notification of Acceptance .................  November 1, 1994
       *    Delivery of Full Papers ....................  February 1, 1995
       *    Early registrations (Sfrs. 700.-) ..........  February 1, 1995
       *    Late registration (Sfrs. 850.-)

       Full registration includes attendance to all sessions, conference
       dinner and conference proceedings. Full-time students who have a valid
       student ID-card, may register at a reduced rate pf Sfrs. 400.- to all
       technical sessions. Student registration however does not include the
       banquet or proceedings. Extra banquet tickets will be sold for
       accompanying persons and students. The proceedings can be purchased
       separately through the ICSC-Secretariat.

VIII.  ACCOMMODATION

       Accommodation charges are not included in the fees, but block
       reservations will be made by the ISCS-Secretariat for the conference
       period at several hotels. More information will be made available
       with the letter of acceptance.
