                             CALL FOR PAPERS

     The conference will consist in a series of invited lectures by leading
scientists icluding M. Arbib, H. Maturana, J. Lettvin and S. Papert related to
the life and work of W.S.McCulloch, an open forum of paper sessions on the
topics listed below and a workshop on the "Embodiments of Mind at the end of
the Century".

Relevant topics include:

      Anatomical, Physiological, Biochemical and Biophysical levels.
      Natural and artificial neural networks.
      Mathematics, systems theory and global properties of the nervous system.
      Conceptual and formal tools in brain function modelling.
      Hybrid systems: symbolic-connectionist links.
      Plasticity, reliability, learning and memory.
      Implications of the work of WS McCulloch for philosophy and psychology.
      Reverse engineering and neurophysiology.

    
     All accepted papers will be published by the MIT Press in the 
pre-conferece proceedings. Those authors will be sent specific instructions
and guidelines. 

     Invited lectures and selected papers will be published by The MIT Press
in a post-conference book.

     Three copies of the intended papers should be sent, prepared according
to the following instructions for authors no later than May 30, 1995 to:

INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS

     Authors should submit three copies of full intended papers, not exceeding
eight pages of DIN A4 or 8.5 by 11 inch paper, including figures, tables and
references, in English.

     The centered heading must include:
	
         Title in capitals.
         Name(s) of author(s).
         Address(es) of author(s)
         A 10 lines abstract.

     Three blank lines should be left between each of the above items and four
between the heading and the body of the paper, 1.6 cm left, right, top and
bottom margins, single-spaced and not exceeding the 8-page limit.

     One additional DIN A-4 must be enclosed with the following organizational
data:

     Title and author(s) name(s).
     A list of five keywords.
     A reference to the Topics the paper relates to.
     Postal address, phone, fax and e-mail if available.

	
     All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings.
