Right, silly euphemisms work, or simply saying, "prior work on this by cottrell, etc." The year I was on the NIPS PC, I was also on the PC for ACL and AAAI. ACL used blind reviewing. I was sure I was reviewing a paper by Ken Church, and I was wrong. There was only one paper of the 15 or so I reviewed that I had any idea who it was. gary cottrell
