         FARAWELL TO A PIONIEER: Eduardo R. Caianiello

A physicist by training, Eduardo R. Caianiello was one of the
brave fews who dared to start the field of neural networks more 
than 30 years ago. 
In 1991 he was one of the founders of the European Neural Network 
Society and was chairing the organization of the 1994 Conference 
ICANN'94 in Sorrento until he suddenly and peacefully died,
on October 22, 1993, in his home, in Naples.
