you can use a simpler means to achieve the same result, computationally.
you can use a distinct activation value to represent bindings.
this distinct value can be equated to phase.
so if two nodes receive the same value, then they are bound to the same
thing.

This scheme does not reuire 
require temporal processing, but it can have all the 
nice properties you mentioned.
