would Pentti Kanerva's model of associative memory fit in with your
definition of analogical inference? It seems that the input of successive
binary vectors to his distributed memory creats a structure in Hamming
space, often creating never-before seen resident vectors... which are then
evoked.

P.s. On the other hand, Jim Keeler shows that Kanerva memory and
Hopfield nets can have a common notation, so I am confused. After all
Hoopfield nets are connectionist.
