Patent Fallacies

This is not the proper forum for a discussion of software patents, so I'll
keep this very brief: Before accepting Steve Gallant's mostly pro-patent
analysis at face value, you should contact the League for Programming
Freedom, "league at prep.ai.mit.edu", and ask them to send you their position
papers on the subject, which they will send by E-mail.  This is a good
presentation of the arguments for elimination of software/algorithm
patents.  (They also have a position statement opposing look-and-feel
copyrights).
