I do not agree that people should not publicly object to militarist
uses of science. As most people know, Japan is a relatively conformist
society. Open discourse is a strength of the West compared to Japan.
Many netters (myself included) object to such uses as "Neural Networks
in Automatic Target Recognition" and the general prevalence of DOD and
ONR funding in CS as opposed to NSF. It leads to a militarist focus.
Where's science's "Peace Dividend"?
