Post-processing of neural net output

The following soon-to-appear paper uses signal detection theory 
(Green and Swets, 1966) to compare various methods for vowel recognition.  
Among the methods compared are linear prediction, weighted cepstra and 
neural nets, with both bark scale and linear frequency normalization.
