1. Research proposals based on connectionist models that lead to a better
understanding of classification of transient, non-speech sounds are being
supported (as well as perception in general) by: Office of Naval Research (Code
1142PS), Attn: J. J. O'Hare, 800 N. Quincy St., Arlington, VA 22217-5000. A
typical program would be for 3 years at an annual level of $100-150K. A full
proposal would be fine but a preliminary proposal to establish mutual interest
would be acceptable. Start date would be 1 October 1988.
