This is potentially quite useful as copilot leverages multiple models
simultaneously and is probably more user friendly, for now, than other such
tools.
At least that is what my "independent inside sources" tell me :)
Currently, CMU use is limited to faculty and staff, but I'd expect students
to be able to use it as well soon.
Cheers
Artur

Computing Services is excited to share a new way to interact with the
evolving world of generative artificial intelligence (AI).
Faculty and staff may now access *Microsoft Copilot*, a generative AI
platform that provides additional data protection when you log in using
your Andrew userID. Unlike open commercial tools, Microsoft will not retain
your prompts or responses to train its AI models.
You can converse with Copilot to:
-
generate new text, images, or code,
-
summarize or categorize existing information, or
-
explore new topics in a conversational style.
*Learn more about Microsoft Copilot
<https://www.cmu.edu/computing/services/ai/copilot/index.html>,* including
how to log in and ensure you’re protected. Microsoft frequently updates the
tools available to higher education users in Copilot, so I encourage you to
check this page often.
*Note: *Microsoft does not currently extend Copilot’s enterprise data
protection to student accounts. Students may access Copilot, but Microsoft
may retain their prompts or responses to train its AI models
As you experiment, review our *current guidance for using generative AI
<https://www.cmu.edu/computing/services/ai/index.html>* to support
teaching, learning, research, and the operation of university business to
ensure you’re using Copilot responsibly. We’ll continue to update this
resource as we follow the evolution of AI and refine our AI services.
