Especially the second of the webinars can be of sheer interest to some of
us.

*Research and Academic Perspectives on Artificial Intelligence Impact
Assessments*

*Event Series*

AI impact and assessment language matters in policy, and in the case of AI,
there is a lack of consensus for defining the scope and definitions used
for impact and risk frameworks. Creating common narratives that define AI
impact is critical for mitigating defined risks. Without an intentional
effort to create this shared understanding, risks can go unidentified or
underestimated. Often there is even disagreement on the meanings and scope
of the language used to define AI risks and impacts. Our research has
identified over 70 different frameworks around the world. The Bipartisan
Policy Center recognizes the need for the U.S. to create a shared
understanding of the language used to define impact. We will convene
stakeholders to address this issue and work toward shared definitions.

*First in Series*

This first event will kick off our exploration into the topic by
highlighting the latest from the top researchers in the field. Join us as
we launch this initiative to convene stakeholders to discuss the latest in
AI and policy through the lens of understanding the impact of AI systems on
sector-specific. Panelists will also discuss critical questions: How can
policy catch up to the latest in AI research? What are the pros and cons of
impact assessments? How do we define impact in relation to risk? Do we even
need policies? How can congress respond? And what examples use an impact
assessment that could translate to AI?
