Artur and Predrag are recovering and so this should be a good part of their recovery process :-) More details will be following from Predrag. We look forward to seeing everyone there! Jeff. It is not. You can't log into lop1 because your old home directories residing on Lyre are not mounted. Lyre old file server is down due to kernel panic. Unlike 4th of July panic this one appears to be very serious as the computer is panicking during the reboot. The good news is that most of Lab functions are unaffected with this incident. Please use lop2 (port 2222), shell, and bash as gateways. Your home directories were fully migrated a while ago to new file server. Code repos are on svnhub machine, backups have been migrated long time ago as well to backup1. Unfortunately there is lots of data left on the old file server which is conveniently backed up onto itself that rescuing Lyre is absolutely my number one priority. Don't make too much out of it. I have been able to re-install OS by removing all the original HDDs. Currently original HDDs are back into their original bays and system is able to run with them. Whether mdadm is now clever enough to reassemble software RAIDs so that we can access data on /auton remains to be seen. That is a good news. However IMHO the whole Lyre setup is one big joke which is unsustainable. As of tomorrow I will start migrating all remaining data from Lyre in systematic fashion to new file servers. If you have high priority data, project, repo please ping me so that we can migrate things in the orderly fashion. No file system access except to people with special needs (Lab directors etc) will be given to Lyre and this is officially the end of old infrastructure. In lieu of the above Lofty (NIS server) will be retired tomorrow at 3:00 PM, LOT2 will be rebuilt and plug into LDAP infrastructure as soon as people claim their data from that RAID 5 (please e-mail if you have data on LOT2). Lop1 will be rebuild as shell gateway and plugged in LDAP. LOS1 is garbage and I think it would be the best to retire it. More data is saved ("common software") comes to mind I am rsync-ing old /auton/data and /auton/project folders containing close to 5TB of data to new file servers. If you have secret svn repos on Lyre this is the time to speak out. 2. Lop1 shell gateway is rebuilt and put back in production. The Lab has four fully functional gateways: i. lop1.autonlab.org ii. lop2.autonlab.org (port 2222) iii. shell.autonlab.org iv. bash.autonlab.org I can add more if necessary. For X2Go proxy please use bash.autonlab.org or read the login message first before trying to use other shell gateways as proxy machines. 3. Lofty is shutdown which means that there are no remains of old NIS infrastructure left in the Lab. That also mean that if you are cursing your system admin or you are mad at him make sure your use my name as with the exception of thee nodes in NREC and Xen1 which hosts Auton Lab website all machines have been purchased or rebuilt after I took the job in July of last year. 4. LOS1 is retired. 5. LOT2 is awaiting to be rebuilt. The main problem is the existing 3TB soft RAID 5 which is 91% full. I would really appreciate people e-mailing me and claiming their data as it is going to be much easier to sort things than if I just archive it. This is the last computing node to be switched to LDAP and installed with a clone or Red Hat 6.5. When software RAID 6 is fully assembled (hopefully by tomorrow) LOT2 will have close to 3TB of local storage space. This is an opportunity to remain you LOT2 machine specs 16 cores and 64 GB of RAM. It also came to my attention that very few if any of you are using LOT1 which is even nicer machine with 24 cores and 128 GB of RAM and close to 1TB local storage space. Yes LOV3, LOV4, and LOW1 are nicer machines but they are very crowded and LOT[1-2] are definitely worth looking. Software highlights as usual: GCC 4.8.2 (look at /opt/rh) MATLAB 2014a (2014b is not released yet). Python 2.7.3 soon to be updated to 2.7.8 please use python2.7 command R-3.1.1 TeXLive 2014 (look at /usr/local/TeXLive and add the path to your personal profile if you want to use it instead of default system TeXLive 2007 which is used by R and many packages as dependency).
