I intend to bring it all back up tomorrow, conditions permitting. Mike -- Michael J. However, one internal server did not come back up on Saturday. That server was called LAIR and its job was to act as a backup NIS, DNS and DHCP server, in addition to storing about 3 TB of backups. As a result of this server being down for the medium term, the following backups are not happening that affect the general Auton Lab user community: 1) Staff Linux desktop backups are not being synced to a server. They are being stored only on your local hard drive. 2) /auton/home/* are not being backed up. 3) /auton/archive/* are not being backed up. 4) Databases on LYRE are not being backed up. The LAIR server is sitting on my desk, and will be repaired or replaced as soon as is feasible when I return from vacation on Aug 29. Until then, please take your own precautions when using the above mentioned directories and services, and know that there are no active backups happening there for the time being. I will work over the next days to get as many of these backups as possible working again in a temporary fashion, and will keep you posted as that work is completed. -Mike P.S. The server that hosts this service has been flaky for a long time and it did not come back up after the power crisis. If (and only if) you and a sponsor need to transfer files until I can fix it (in ~2 weeks) please send them to https://www.autonlab.org/filesend and have them create an account there. After creating an account, the user should email me so that I can enable upload rights to their account. Please remember that I am on vacation this week. You should not expect an immediate response regarding this issue. Best, Mike
