All Auton and Neill Lab services will be unavailable during the time window specified. Auton Lab users: If your home directory on BigPapa is mounted on your workstation, you will want to be sure you have saved all of your work and exited all applications on Friday when you leave (or before Sunday evening). Your machine will lose connection to the VPN and BigPapa and any unsaved work will be lost. Any jobs running on the compute nodes at this time may also be disrupted or terminated during the outage. Please leave your workstations powered on, so that I can make sure that the VPN connections have resumed after the work has been completed. -- Michael J. There was an oversight that resulted in me not receiving a new IP address for our router / VPN server. The outage will be rescheduled after I work this out with the SCS network team. -Mike > > > TIME: 10:00 PM EDT - 04:00 AM EDT (on Monday) > > SERVICES AFFECTED: Auton Lab compute machines > Neill Lab compute machines > VPN Connected Desktops > Fileserver (BigPapa) Access, > Auton Lab Website > CVS / Subversion > > DETAILS: > > All of our central systems will be down on Sunday while I migrate the > network configurations to the new IP addresses assigned by SCS > Computing Facilities. I have already updated the IP addresses of all of our central compute machines. I have done this in a way that also leaves them accessible at their old IP addresses so that existing connections are not terminated. Eventually the machines will stop being available at the old address. Any new (non-VPN) connections to our central compute machines will be via their new IP addresses. As a result, you will get the standard "The authenticity of host X can't be established" messages when you connect for the first time. There will be a small window of downtime, less than one hour, so that I can change the configuration on the router itself. I plan to do this over the weekend, so the fewest number of people are affected. I will notify you of the exact day and time later in the week. -- Michael J.
